A chance for our children to celebrate their faith every day, all day Show your commitment to St. Agnes School - Volunteer The following is a list of volunteer opportunities for families of St. Agnes: Although this list is not exhaustive, it is a beginning point for people who are looking for such opportunities. The school policy states that each family must volunteer 15 hours per year. By completing the coupons at the back of the School Handbook and turning them in to the school office, the hours of volunteering per family are documented. At the end of the first semester, each family will receive an updated volunteer hourly report that will document your activity. Although 15 hours is required, as one can see, the parish and school offer a tremendous amount of opportunities to volunteer which indicates the needs of the school and parish. Volunteer Opportunities COMMITTEES School CommitteeThe School Committee members are responsible for developing policies with the administration that will enable the school to reach the goals of helping students develop spiritually and intellectually. Members are determined through the prayerful selection process. Board positions are discerned at the June meeting. Time Commitment: Officers serve one-year terms, 2-3 hours per month; School Committee members currently meet the second Wednesday evening of every month in addition to any sub-committee to which they are liaison. Duties:
The Home and School Association promotes effective communication and cooperation between parents and educators. This committee is responsible for the overseeing of enrichment and social programs for the students, faculty, and school families. Members are determined through the prayerful selection process in May. Time Commitment:Officers carry one-year terms, 1-2 hours per month. The association currently meets the second Thursday of the month. Additional hours may be required of association officers. Duties:
The Development Committee pursues a program including activities/projects that obtain funds from third-party sources which can be used to enhance the educational programs of the school. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month for meetings; 1-3 hours per month for activities Sub Committees
The Parish Council makes decisions for the Parish by responding to the needs of the parishioners and discerning the will of God in a particular community of believers. They provide spiritual leadership, parish governance, policy formation and parish planning. Time Commitment: Three-year term. Members are selected each May by the Prayerful Selection Process (Discernment). Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM. Members are required to be a liaison to at least one standing committee, attending the All-Committee Night on the second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Buildings and Grounds Committee The Buildings and Grounds Committee maintain and repair the physical property of St. Agnes Parish. The committee determines necessary or preventative maintenance and arranges for services and repairs. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month for meetings, and additional time for projects. The Christian Formation Committee recommends policies and procedures for the religious education and Christian Formation of all parish members. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month; meetings are the second Wednesday of each month Finance Committee The Finance Committee reviews budgetary matters and makes recommendations to the Parish Council in all areas of financial planning. Members meet monthly to look over financial statements and to consider expenses and requests made by various organizations and committees. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month. Human Concerns Committee The Human Concerns Committee is made up of many groups of people, all working together, to help members of the Parish and community at large. The Liturgical Committee enhances the sacramental life of the Catholic Church by encouraging active participation of the assembled community in the Eucharistic celebration. Time commitment 1- ? hours per month. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month. Sub-committees
Members of the Stewardship Committee educate and enhance all phases of stewardship at St. Agnes, including time, talent and treasure. Time Commitment:1 - 2 hours per month. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month. Sub-committees
SCHOOL ACTIVITIES Book FairThe Book Fair Coordinator(s) schedules the fair with the school and Librarian, plans, sets-up and disassembles the annual Scholastic Book Fair. The coordinator arranges for daytime opportunities for students and teachers to view the Book Fair. The publicity to the school families and the parish is necessary, as well as cash handling and some light bookkeeping duties. Time Commitment: Volunteers needed for 3-4 hour shifts during sale days or coordinate this event for approximately 30 hours. Campbell Soup Labels (To see more information about the Campbell Soup Labels program, click here.) Collect and sort labels for volunteers to trim, count, bundle, and mail in for redemption. Coordinator - Time Commitment: Approximately 2 to 4 hours per month Volunteer - Time Commitment: One hour each time you receive labels to trim. Catholic Schools Week (See Development Committee) Copy Room Make copies of assignments and lessons for teachers, Friday Flyers for school office, and any other information necessary for distribution. Time Commitment: Help is needed any day school is in session; 1-2 hour increments in the morning or afternoon works best. General Mills Box Tops (To see more information about the General Mills Box Tops program, click here.) In conjunction with Student Council, organize collection, cutting, counting and mailing of box tops. Time Commitment: 3 to 4 times per school year. Approximately 12 hours total. Library Aide Help children check books in and out, return books to shelves. Assist the Librarian with as assigned. Time Commitment: 2 to 3 hours per month. Lunch Recess Supervision Supervise school children on the playground or in the classroom during the noon recess and during the lunch period. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per day as available; 11:15 am - 12:25 pm lunch hours (Special Note: Preschoolers are welcome.) Market Day (To see more information about Market Day, click here.) Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours per month, one Wednesday evening a month from September to June. Duties: Help with set up in the hall (or designated area) and unload, unpack, and organize products. Assist and double check customer orders. Requirements: Accountability and punctuality. Must enjoy working in a fast paced and friendly atmosphere. (Special Note: Men are especially needed for assistance in unloading the truck and carrying out orders.) Musical Programs Work with Music Teacher to determine costume needs, set design, construction, painting, and sound equipment for December Christmas Program. Time Commitment: Project hours are flexible including days, nights, and weekends. Resource Room Assist students with academic work including reading assistance, math tutoring, completing work, proctoring missed tests, etc. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours weekly Room Parents (Moms/Dads) Room Parents assist teachers in organizing special classroom events and act as liaisons to help facilitate family involvement. Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours per month. School Picnic In conjunction with Student Council, parents help organize and supervise games and activities for the afternoon, as well as serve and clean up lunch. Time Commitment: 1-3 hours prep time; approximately 2-6 hours day of event Scrip (To see more information about the Scrip program, click here.) Help is needed to do weekly ordering on Mondays, processing on Thursdays and distribution on Friday afternoons. There is also distribution after masses on the weekends. Time Commitment: Weekly duties 2-3 hours. Spirit Wear Publicize order opportunities with flyers, collect and distribute orders and money. Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours total at the beginning of the school year. Teacher Helpers - Classroom/Chaperones Tasks may include filing, copying, putting up bulletin boards, and working with students. Some tasks may be completed at home. Time Commitment: varies depending on teacher needs. PARISH ACTIVITIES AthleticsCoaching boys and girls teams including practices, games, tournaments, and attending preseason meetings. Help is needed for concessions and admissions to athletic games. Parents of athletes are committed to a specified amount of time for concessions, therefore, they would not be eligible for this.

Time Commitment: Once a week for approximately 2 hours depending on grade level (September through April) Fish Fry Duties vary but include food preparation, cooking, set up, kitchen help, and clean up. Time Commitment: Parish Fish Fry is held the first Friday of the month, September through May. Help is needed Thursday mornings, Friday mornings and Friday evenings. Scouting Many scouting programs are established at St. Agnes and staffed by volunteers which include Tiger, Cub and Boy Scouts as well as Brownie, Girl and Cadet Scouts. Time Commitment: Most groups meet twice monthly in addition to many special events. Duties: include organizing and running meetings, working with other group leaders and attend leader meetings.
